Special Visits

The following information outlines the procedure for requesting a special visit:

A special visit may be requested by any adult who resides more than 100 miles from Grand Junction. Maximum number of visitors is two.  To request a special visit, come to the visitation window of the Mesa County Detention Facility during a time listed below. You must present a government-issued photo ID that has an address more than 100 miles from Grand Junction. The sergeant on duty at that time will approve or disapprove the special visit request. You cannot request or schedule a special visit in advance. Generally, if you have visited here in the past, or if you can schedule and attend a regular visit, you will not be allowed to have a special visit.  Inmates are allowed only one special visit per incarceration.  All other visitation and facility rules also apply to special visits.

**Note: Special visits will not be done on evenings, weekends or holidays.

Special visits may only take place during the following times (on Monday, Wednesdays or Fridays):

  • 8:30 A.M. - 10:00 A.M.
  • 12:30 P.M. - 4:00 P.M.
