Two-Day Event! May 20-21, 2022

 

Let the Games begin! Glow N Games is an official Law Enforcement Torch Run event benefiting Special Olympics Colorado! This unique family-friendly event is part of Police Week in Mesa County.

Two events make up the unified games:

Sign up for one or both for an extreme challenge! Enjoy the festival-like atmosphere at Long Family Park Friday, May 20th with the whole family, and at CrossFit Junction on Saturday, May 21st! Put on by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, this is an event you don't want to miss!!! 

 

 

 

 

 

May 20, 2022

 Adults $30, Students $20 

Once the sun goes down at Long Family Park, we turn on the lights and make the 5K course glow.  Register early and save! Adults $30, Students $20.  All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Colorado.

Participants get glow powder, glow sticks, and are encouraged to dress up!!  New and improved Glow Stations are set up throughout the course to maximize fun. For the serious runner, we've got professional timers to help get your personal record! Who will cross the crime scene tape finish line first?! 

 

The course

This is a night event so neon colors, glow sticks, and headlamps are encouraged! Registration includes glow sticks and color powder packs that glow at stations placed throughout the course. Additional color powder packs can be purchased at the registration booth.

Water stations are set up at the finish line and at the midpoint of the run/walk. 

Law enforcement and volunteers are also stationed throughout the course to help guide runners and provide extra safety for this night run.

 The two-day event is $50 per person Rx or Scaled

This CrossFit-style event is comprised of first responder themed challenges. Have you ever wanted to pull the SWAT Team's Bearcat or try dragging the Fire Department's dummy….this is your event! 

Day 1, May 20: You and your teammates will compete in Workout 1 and a floater event Friday evening during the Glow N Games festival at Long Family Memorial Park. Add on the 5K Glow for an extra challenge!

Day 2, May 21: The competition continues Saturday morning at CrossFit Junction for Workouts 2-4 with live results. Workouts include Dynamic, Sprint, Strength, and Endurance. 

 

Build your Team

The Western Slope Invitational is a team event. Each team of four co-ed is preferred but not required. Pick your division: Rx or Scaled (easier). The two-day event is $50 per person or $200 per team. Registration includes a T-shirt and swag bag. Dressing up is encouraged! Register your team now! Spots are limited!

 

The Bearcat Pull 

This has been a Police Week tradition for Law Enforcement for years and now it is available to the public! It's not just about strength, but strategy too!! Each team will pull the armored vehicle a set distance for time. Gloves are recommended for this event. 

 

Man Down Rescue "Dummy Drag"

New this year! This fast-paced CrossFit-style event will get your heart pumping! Just like how firefighters train to save people from burning buildings, teams will work together to drag the dummy to safety. 

 

Official Judges

Each workout will have trained judges officiating to ensure fairness and encourage team fun. Plus live results throughout the event!

 

Prizes for Top 3 Teams plus medals for the winners in each division!! Not to mention bragging rights!!

5:00 pm Opening Ceremonies includes the lighting of the Special Olympics Torch 

5:30 pm CrossFit Field Challenge Starts!

9:00 pm Glow 5k Run / Walk Starts!

10:00 pm Awards and Medal ceremony for Glow 5k Run / Walk

 

Day 2 (Western Slope Invitational ONLY)

Saturday, May 21, 2022, at CrossFit Junction

8:00 am Team Check-in

8:30 am First Heat begins

1:00 pm Awards and Medal ceremony

 

 

Parking at Long Family Park: 

The best parking is on the Southside of Long Family Memorial Park (3117 E 1/2 Rd) or at Central High School. 

 

Parking at CrossFit Junction: 

Parking is available at CrossFit Junction. Overflow parking is available at Chili's Grand Junction. 

 

 

Packet pickup:

Available at the registration booth at Long Family Park on Friday, May 20 from 4:00 pm until 10 minutes prior to the event. Western Slope Invitational Team designee may pick up packets for all Team members.

 

Restrooms are available at two locations at Long Family Memorial Park and at CrossFit Junction.
