The Jail Operations Division Captain is responsible for daily operations of the Mesa County Detentions Facility, taking in arrestees for all local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in Mesa County. This includes Grand Junction, Palisade and Fruita Police Departments, Colorado State Patrol, Parole, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the United States Marshal.
The Detention Facility is a 392 bed state of the art direct supervision facility and provides food service and 24-hour medical care to inmates. First time advisements are conducted from inside the facility using a televised video system. For other court proceedings, inmates are escorted between the facility and the Mesa County Justice Center via a secure internal passageway.
Colorado State statutes require inmates sentenced to jail to perform work as assigned by the Sheriff's Office. They may receive up to 12 days off of each 30 day sentence.
