  • Icon 12-28-2012 -- Child Shot Overnight

    Mesa County, Colorado— At 8 p.m. on December 27th, deputies responded to 3220 E. Hall Court, Unit G, Clifton, on a report of an accidental firearms discharge. A 7-year-old male had been shot by another child inside the residence, resulting in a non-life threatening injury. The victim was transported to Community Hospital by personal vehicle, treated and returned home overnight.

    Mesa County, Colo.— School District 51, along with its law enforcement partners at the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, the Grand Junction Police Department, the Fruita Police Department, the Palisade Police Department, the Colorado State Patrol, and the District Attorney's Office, want you to know that we have been working together closely to keep our schools safe.  Our agencies have been in frequent contact, and as recently as December 20th we met as a group to discuss additional safety measures.


    Mesa County, Colorado- Thanks to information from the community, Mesa County Sheriff’s Deputies were able identify the driver of the van, who helped in the Enterprise Liquor Store donation jug theft on 12/04/2012.

    Icon 12-21-2012 -- Christmas Closures

    Mesa County, Colorado— On Monday and Tuesday, December 24/25, in observation of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Records Division and Civil Division will be closed. Inmate visitation will go as planned on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day. Regular business hours for all operations will resume on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. 

    Icon 12-19-2012 -- Suspects Use Stolen Credit Card

    Mesa County, Colorado— On the weekend of November 17, 2012, a wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in Mesa County. On the night of November 18, 2012, a debit/credit card was used twice at the North Avenue Wal-mart. Nearly $350.00, was used on the card before it was reported missing.

    Icon 12-18-2012 -- Booking Staff Shortage

    Mesa County, Colo. -- Today the Mesa County Sheriff notified all area law enforcement and criminal justice agencies that due to budget constraints, specifically the financial inability to fill vacant positions, the booking process for arrests coming into the Mesa County Jail will experience a delay as a result of not having booking technicians on duty during the night time hours between 11:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.

    MESA COUNTY, Colo- The Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT teams are arming themselves with toys this weekend, hoping to bring some extra joy to area kids this Christmas.
